關於Taiko
Taiko is a ZK-EVM Layer 2 on Ethereum that aims for execution equivalence with mainnet: proposers submit blocks, provers generate zero-knowledge proofs for verification by an L1 contract, and unproven blocks can be challenged and reverted, producing a contestable ordering and settlement structure ultimately adjudicated by Ethereum. It began with parallel SGX and ZK proving and later moved to based sequencing, returning block production to L1 proposers to reduce censorship risk. Bridging uses a message-proof mechanism in which a message is verified on L1 before execution on the destination.
In the ecosystem it hosts Solidity applications that want to migrate without code changes; unlike OP Stack rollups, proof and challenge logic sit in mainnet contracts rather than relying on multisigs or a single sequencer. On 22 June 2026 a flaw in the bridge's message-proof verification let a forged proof be accepted on L1, costing about USD 1.7 million, after which the team paused all bridges and halted block production while the attacker moved 1.99 million TAIKO to MEXC.

Security incident: On June 22 a flaw in bridge message-proof verification let forged proofs be accepted on Ethereum L1, draining about $1.7M; the attacker then sent 1.99M TAIKO to MEXC. Taiko paused all bridges, halted block production and asked exchanges to stop deposits, and the token fell 11% in 24 hours to an all-time low.
Token unlocks: About 21.9% of the 1B supply is unlocked. The prior 30 days released 6.7M tokens (~$521K), and a further 6.7M will unlock linearly from October 14 to November 13, with no cliff events. Market cap is roughly $17M.
On 9 April 2026 Taiko deployed the Shasta upgrade to mainnet, a protocol rewrite the team says cut block proposal costs by about 22 times and proving costs by about 8 times, alongside preconfirmation and Stage 2 work. In the same period ENS adopted the Taiko stack for Namechain, a fully ZK rollup with a testnet planned for the second quarter.
Mid-year brought trouble. A security incident on 21 June was handled through a four-step recovery: the network was producing blocks again by 30 June with cross-chain assets matched one-to-one, the bridge fully reopened on 2 July, and no user funds were lost. On 1 September CTO Gustavo Gonzalez left to co-found an AI startup while staying on as adviser and Security Council member. On 8 October Proposal 39 executed on Ethereum and Taiko, adding Permit and Permit2 support to the bridge and raising the gas limit for ether payments. Market sentiment diverged just as sharply: in early July TAIKO fell more than seventy percent in a session with the market cap near $27 million, so token performance has not tracked the technical work. On the roadmap, preconfirmation latency and ZK proof coverage remain the two measurable milestones.
Taiko pushes based rollup preconfirmation latency below one second, widens ZK proof coverage on the path to Stage 2, and uses external adoptions such as Namechain to prove the stack travels.
