M2 is a crypto asset exchange headquartered in Abu Dhabi holding a licence from the Abu Dhabi Global Market's financial services regulator, offering spot, derivatives, yield products and fiat on-ramps to users in more than 150 countries. Client funds are segregated from company assets, most holdings sit in cold storage and custody involves external partners. It addresses the lack of a strictly regulated retail trading venue in the Middle East.
Compared with offshore exchanges, licensed operation means higher compliance costs and clearer client protection, and restricts which products and regions can be served. Differentiation comes from fiat rails: in 2026 the platform enabled direct local bank connections so UAE residents can buy and sell bitcoin and ether with dirhams without routing through a third country. The quality of such infrastructure often decides regional retention more than fees, especially as institutional clients grow.
