On March 18, 2026, Munich-based custodian Tangany received a Payment Services Provider license under PSD2 from BaFin for e-money token (EMT) activities, becoming one of the first digital asset custodians in Europe to hold such a license, and enabling regulated stablecoin deposits, withdrawals and credit transfers. Tangany obtained its BaFin crypto custody license in October 2021, continued as qualified crypto custody from December 2024, and holds a MiCA CASP authorization.
Tangany's service covers custody of cryptocurrencies, tokenized securities and NFTs for more than 60 institutional clients including banks, trading platforms, corporates and fintechs, with over 3 billion euros in assets under custody, delivered through API integration with MPC and HSM key architecture.
Tangany will package custody, MiCA services and EMT payment services into white-label infrastructure for banks and fintechs, available across the EU once launched, with the first two partner institutions preparing to go live.

In October 2021, Tangany obtained a crypto custody licence (Kryptoverwahrgeschaft) from Germany's BaFin. On 8 August 2025, it obtained a MiCA Crypto-Asset Service Provider (CASP) licence for custody and transfer services in 30 countries. It added a payment institution licence (ZAG) in March 2026.
