On April 25, 2026, Sperm Racing held the first Sperm Racing World Cup at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles, with one competitor representing each of 128 countries on a microfluidic track roughly 3,800 micrometres long, a US$100,000 grand prize, live coverage via high-speed microscopy and 3D visualisation, and open spectator betting. More than 10,000 applications had been received, and the company had raised US$1 million from investors including Karatage and Figment Capital.
The Sperm Racing format runs from open applications through qualifiers, head-to-head knockouts and a final, with samples incubated, washed and centrifuged before being timed on an identical track, where motility decides advancement.
Sperm Racing plans to turn the event into an annual tour, add regional qualifiers and more biomarker data, move betting and ticketing onto on-chain settlement, and open the track hardware to laboratories in more countries.
