關於Moonriver
Moonriver was an EVM-compatible parachain deployed on Kusama by the Moonbeam team, which won a slot through a crowdloan in June 2021 and opened smart contracts, staking and transfers on 26 August 2021. It reused Ethereum accounts and bytecode, so Solidity contracts could be deployed directly and tools such as MetaMask, Hardhat and Remix worked without changes; cross-chain messages travelled over XCMP to other parachains in the Kusama ecosystem. Its role was to run new runtime code under real economic conditions before it reached Moonbeam.
Security was shared rather than independent: collators collected transactions and produced candidate blocks, while Kusama validators checked block validity. MOVR paid for gas, rewarded collators and carried on-chain governance, with an initial supply of 10 million and roughly 5% annual inflation afterwards. On 31 July 2026 the 1:1 migration bridge closed and MOVR became an ERC-20 on Base; on 1 August 2026 the original parachain entered maintenance mode and stopped processing user-initiated transactions.

Major development: Moonriver completed its 1:1 migration to Coinbase's Base network; the official bridge closed on July 31, the original Kusama parachain entered maintenance mode on August 1, and the late-claims window shut at 12:00 UTC on September 30, after which MOVR jumped 77% to $1.72 the next day.
Major setback: Binance placed MOVR under its Monitoring Tag on August 11, triggering a roughly 20% drop to around $0.90 within 24 hours; KuCoin suspended deposits and withdrawals at the team's request on September 11, leaving market cap near $10 million at multi-year lows.
The v0.49.2 network upgrade followed in January 2026, with exchanges including CoinEx suspending deposits and withdrawals on January 6 to support execution. On July 7, 2026 the team announced the Kusama parachain wind-down and a one-for-one MOVR migration to Base: the migration portal closed on July 31, with a late-claim window open until September 30.
The chain entered maintenance mode on August 1, producing blocks only for wind-down, while staking inflation went to zero. MOVR on Base is an ERC-20 at contract 0x43fE…2B83, with Binance, Crypto.com and HTX handling the migration for users.
Moonriver's Future strategy and roadmap: the Moonbeam team is shifting to building AI-agent communication, escrow and assurance systems on Base, with GLMR as the backing asset; MOVR's post-migration governance and value-capture design is not yet defined and is said to be announced later.
