Users deposit into vaults on Solana and Hyperliquid, accrue one Frontier Point per dollar per day, then commit points to bid when a participating registry opens name selection; the highest-ranked order that covers the first-year price wins the name.
The timing follows ICANN's first application round for new generic top-level domains since 2012. The window closed on 12 August and on 22 September ICANN confirmed 1,616 of 1,663 applications were moving forward, with D3 saying the pool includes .agent, .crypto, .wallet, .sol and .robot. The first Solana vault is supported by Loopscale and takes SOL, the Hyperliquid vault by Hyperion DeFi and Upshift, and more than 20 applicants and registries are taking part. First extensions are expected in 2027.
D3 plans to extend Frontier into multi-chain vaults and a secondary domain market, align with Sunrise periods and trademark priority, and push Doma's domain tokenisation standard to more registries.

D3 holds ICANN accreditation as a domain name registrar and, through D3 Registry LLC, operates the .vana generic top-level domain under an ICANN registry agreement assigned on 3 June 2024, the regulatory basis for tokenising domain names on its Doma protocol.
